Supply chain consulting services include; operational assessments for all supply intense departments, strategic contracting decision support, value analysis initiatives development and management, materials systems/equipment planning, supply chain benchmarking as well as database systems analyses and design services.
HPA’s professional experience and successes:
- GPO Contracting - Delivered all quantitative results and recommendations for GPO assessments for BDHCS, including the analysis and recommendations for Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Texas Children’s Hospital.
- Operating Room Inventory Reduction - Led PeriOperative service inventory reduction project at major large, Baltimore academic medical center, identifying over $1,000,000 of implementable savings in returnable products and inventory system adjustments.
- Supply Savings - Collaborated with numerous clients to identify “best in class” products for major supply intensive departments, develop cost targets and goals, create action strategies, and achieve positive financial results.
- Materials Systems/Equipment Planning - 900 bed teaching and research hospital. Worked with an international architectural firm, to conduct a comprehensive review of the surgical supply system, and Central Sterile Processing operations. Completed a detailed functional and operational analysis to streamline activities and to centralize functions. Identified the functional and operational requirements for a centralized case cart system. Forecasted volume and scheduling impacts to help determine elevator traffic demands and major reprocessing equipment needs.
- Operational Benchmarking - Designed and implemented CQI program for supply chain functions in a large midwest academic medical center. Working in collaboration with client’s Quality Improvement Teams, the benchmarking program developed supply chain performance metrics for each defined operational area. Outcomes included a monthly metric reporting system and performance improvement management system for corrective actions. The project also included involvement with Administration to help shape the program strategically keeping the program in line with the overall mission of the academic medical center.
- Database Analysis and Design - Redesigned and maintained all operational databases for BD Healthcare Consulting Services including benchmarking, supply pricing, and product utilization.
- Data Management - Led all data collection, organization, and communication efforts throughout BDHCS for all supply chain projects. Specific efforts include the interpretation of results for consultant recommendations to clients as well as assistance in the preparation of final reporting with project managers.
- Data Integrity/Item File Management – Led all Item File data cleansing projects (60+ Item Files reviewed, 100+K cleaned).
- Industry Contribution - Provided guidance and analytical support to the development of AHRMM’s 2004 Surgery Supply Chain Management Report and AHRMM’s 2005 Performance Indicator Study.
